About Me

With 10 years in User Experience design, and over 20 years in front end and website design (I started coding in middle school), I understand the ins and out of what it takes to implement designs and how to create products that actually solve user problems.

I realize that good product design is about proper research, planning, and great communication. I develop and maintain quality relationships with members of my team to help work flow better through all stages in the agile cycle.

I’m lighthearted and optimistic, while also not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get the job done.

The steps of my UX process:

Step No.

01

Research.

The first step is understanding the user and the problems they need solved. I use ethnographic observations and 1 on 1 interviews to collect data. I then synthesize the data into meaninful insights, sharing artifacts like personas, journey maps, and service blueprints with the team so they can understand the users' perspectives too.

Step No.

02

Ideate.

A helpful step in generating ideas upfront. I like to review research artifacts, state the design problem, map user flows, and run group brainstorming sessions. Collaborating on low fi sketches is a great to generate as many ideas as possible early to find a solution that meets business needs without huge engineering limitations.

Step No.

03

Prototype.

Before diving into polished design, it's smart to sanity check concepts with prototypes. I focus on organization and interactions at this stage. This helps me create and test interactions early and allows the team to adjust or pivot quickly if needed.

Step No.

04

Design.

The last step (but not really because nothing is ever "done"). After a feature or product is polished with crisp visual design, it will still need to be tested - before, during, and after code is complete. There is always room for improvement and it's important to keep listening to the users.

I'm great at:

UX Design

I naturally organize information in a hierarchal and meaningful way. I also have attention to details that together create big impressions. This logical organization is key to UX design.

Communication

I listen and empathize with people. I try to understand their intent and not just their words. I am often a translator between groups like marketing, management, developers, and end users.

Data Synthesis

I can take a mountain of user data, spot patterns, and summarize those patterns in a way that's easy to digest for design.

Research

I enjoy interviewing, observing, and gaining insight as I do it. So much helpful information already exists in the brains of end users, just waiting to be heard.
